Marilyn Monroe was born as Norma Jeane Mortensen, but baptised Norma Jeane Baker, never being sure who her real father was, after spending much of her early life in Foster Homes. Her mother was mentally unstable, although remained reluctant to have Marilyn adopted. In 1938 Marilyn went to live with her Aunt, Ana Lower, who provided one of the few stable periods of her life.   Marilyn Monroe, aged 16, married a ‘reluctant’ James Dougherty in 1942, mainly due to pressure from her mother, to provide a home for her away from Foster Homes etc. In 1943, when James enlisted in the Merchant Marines.Marilyn Monroe moved in with his mother.
After finding employment in the ‘Radioplane Munitions Factory’, Marilyn Monroe dyed her hair golden blonde and signed on with the ‘Blue Book’ model agency. James Dougherty disapproved and Marilyn Monroe divorced him in 1946.  Spotted by Ben Lyon, of 20th Century Fox, he offered her a contract, initially for six-months, and then persuaded her to take the name of Marilyn Monroe.
Initially unsuccessful, she tried posing for nude pictures then in 1948 signed a six-month contract with Columbia Pictures. The film, ‘Asphalt Jungle’ brought her strong reviews, as did ‘All About Eve’, resulting in a seven-year contract with 20th Century Fox.
Marilyn Monroe did not achieve real success until around 1953, with films such as ‘How to Marry a Millionaire’ and ‘Gentleman Prefer Blondes’ and ‘Diamonds are a Girl’s Best Friend’.
In 1954 Marilyn Monroe married Joe DiMaggio, later to divorce him the same year. In 1955 Marilyn Monroe started dating Arthur Miller and they married in June 1956.
Marilyn Monroe suffered with stage-fright all her life but had great success in films like ‘Some Like it Hot’. Suffering two miscarriages, she later developed health problems and divorced Arthur Miller in 1961.                           
Her life became dogged with illness and personal problems – including her ‘Friendships’ with members of the Kennedy family. She gained a reputation for being unreliable and difficult to work with.               
Controversy still surrounds her death, in 1962, aged 36, from a ‘Barbiturates Overdose’.

What is meant by Financial Security is the way in which one protects the self through the sense of material possessions. It implies the need to own possessions in a practical way, to slowly build up what is needed so that it gives a solid foundation, a sense of Financial Security. One might save up and buy a house so that roots are put down, a base from which one can continue to work, to have space for more possessions. The implication is that the 2nd.
